One Room Challenge – Master Bedroom Update

I’m so excited to be taking part in the One Room Challenge with Calling it Home as a Linking Participant.

For those of you who haven’t heard of the One Room Challenge, it is hosted by Linda at Calling it Home. She has invited twenty amazingly talented designers to transform a space in their home or the home of a client and document it over the next five weeks. Each week these designers will provide design advice and tips to help you transform a space in your own home.

Linda is also giving bloggers the opportunity to link up to this great challenge, and that’s where we come in! As a Linking Participant we will choose a room in our home that we want to make-over and every Thursday during the next five weeks we will be posting our progress.

This challenge came at the perfect time for us. Our master bedroom really needs some love, and this challenge has given me the ambition to actually tackle it!

A few weeks ago I posted a mood board outlining the direction I want to take with our bedroom. I had bright beautiful colours in mind, with a gallery wall full of fun graphic prints. I wanted something bold and colourful. But now I’m starting to lean in a different direction.

The more I think about it, the more I want a calm and tranquil room. I’m envisioning a bedroom that is light and airy. I want romantic touches and vintage elements. Right now I’m loving vintage farmhouse style.

I plan to keep the big furniture pieces currently in our bedroom, the DIY headboard, night stands and dresser are all beautiful pieces that will blend well with the update I have in mind. I’ll mix big box store products with vintage finds to create a farmhouse bedroom. I simply want to breath new life into the room and give it some character.

I’ve created a mood board with a few of the key pieces that are inspiring me. I’m so excited to transform our bedroom! And I’m even more excited to be participating in this challenge with so many other talented designers and bloggers.
