One Room Challenge (Week Three)

I can’t believe it’s Week Three of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda at Calling It Home.

We chose to tackle our master bedroom and we are finally starting to make some progress on our room. If you haven’t been following along you can read about our plans here and here. I’m finding a lot of great pieces, especially some great vintage finds. And we’ve finally made a decision on whether we are doing a plank wall or chair rail, and we’ve picked our paint colour. But we’ll save those surprises for the big reveal!

This week I’m going to share with you how our bedroom looked before the big transformation.

When we first moved into our home the master bedroom was very beige and very empty. It really was a blank slate for us and this is what we turned it into.

Here is what it looked like before…

Here are some other views of the room.

We didn’t do too much to this room, for some reason I find the master bedroom is always the last room in the house to get some love. But that’s about to change!

Currently our room is nice, but I feel it lacks personality and charm. It’s very basic. Our bed is framed against a great striped wall. I’ve always loved stripes and I thought our bedroom was the perfect spot to add some. Nick surprised me by painting these while I was out of town a few years ago. He also made us a beautiful DIY headboard to accent our bed. We stuck with our rule of thumb and purchased white bedding which will carry us through many years. We added some throw pillows and accessories and that’s basically all we’ve done.

I’m really looking forward to our room make-over and creating a bedroom with a charming farmhouse feel.

Thank you Tera! We are lucky to be working with some great pieces already. I always try to purchase classic pieces that will work for us for years to come. Two more weeks to go! Yay!

They truly find such beauty and magic in even the smallest of details. 🎄
This view looks a little bit different this year a This view looks a little bit different this year as we're in the middle of our kitchen renovation. See that little half-wall with the hats, well we've removed it so that we see right into the kitchen now and it's amazing! We've been making great progress, just yesterday our new sink, faucet, and counters were all installed. It's all of these little changes that are making such a big difference. We'll have a few more details to take care of after the holidays, but we're really looking forward to crossing the finish line and sharing it all with you!
