One Room Challenge (Week Five)

Good morning and welcome to Week Five of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home.

I’m so happy I decided to participate in this challenge. I mentioned in my Week One post that our bedroom always seems to be the last room in the house to get any love. So this challenge has really motivated me to finally make some changes. And as much as I have loved participating in this challenge it hasn’t been without it’s stresses. It’s hard enough finding time to shower, let alone make-over an entire room with a three-month old in the house. But I like being held accountable. I signed up for this challenge and I’m going to finish it, it’s definitely given me that extra little boost to get the job done.

And speaking of getting the job done…I finally painted our room. Yay! It felt so great to get that job marked off the list. I love how paint can make such a transformation for minimal cost and effort. Our bedroom feels so fresh and bright now and the new colour really makes our furniture pop.

I have to confess though, the colour is nothing like the colour on the paint chip. We almost never paint a room without testing a colour first (I’ve
learned the hard way). But this time I was so sure it would be spot on. It was such a neutral colour I thought it would be fine. But once again I was deceived! Although the colour isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I chose it I still love it and I think it suits my vision perfectly.

Now that the paint is on the walls, we have one last project to complete and then I get to start putting our bedroom back together. This is my favourite part. I love seeing our hard work and vision come together.

Don’t forget to visit Calling it Home to check out all of the other participants and their amazing projects. We’ll see you next week for the big reveal!

They absolutely loved having their very own tree to decorate with their collection of ornaments and handmade treasures. It was a simple and inexpensive way to add an extra dose of holiday magic to their rooms, after all, there is nothing better than witnessing Christmas through the eyes of a child. They truly find such beauty and magic in even the smallest of details. 🎄
This view looks a little bit different this year a This view looks a little bit different this year as we're in the middle of our kitchen renovation. See that little half-wall with the hats, well we've removed it so that we see right into the kitchen now and it's amazing! We've been making great progress, just yesterday our new sink, faucet, and counters were all installed. It's all of these little changes that are making such a big difference. We'll have a few more details to take care of after the holidays, but we're really looking forward to crossing the finish line and sharing it all with you!

If you’ve been following along with our behind the scenes account, @nick.and.alicia.bts, you’ll know we’re making some big progress on the kitchen. Early next week our window and countertop will be installed, so Nick’s been busy removing our existing counters and sink. It’s so exciting to see it all come together and I’ll be happy to have running water again next week!
