Happy Birthday to Us {1 Year in Review}

It’s been exactly one year since we hit publish on our very first blog post here at A Burst of Beautiful and we haven’t looked back since. It’s been an exciting, busy and inspiring year for us, both in our personal lives and in this wonderful blog community we’ve become a part of. With countless new experiences and adventures along the way, we’ve mastered new skills, pushed our creative limits and learned a whole lot!

We started our blog as a creative outlet, our own little corner of the internet where we could share our creativity and express ourselves and hopefully inspire others along the way. We’ve always been very creative people in everything we do, from our careers to our personal lives. We love spending our time creating, building and designing. My mom encouraged us to start a blog as a way to share our home, projects and recipes with our friends and family.

It was a little intimidating starting our blog. There are so many wonderful and inspiring bloggers out there already. I wondered if people would be interested in what we had to share, if our home, projects and recipes would be good enough and if we would be able to keep up with posting enough creative content to keep people coming back. But we held our breath and jumped right in. And I’m so glad we did.

It feels so good to let our creativity out and share our love for creating. Too often we let the demands of life get to the best of us, we don’t allow ourselves the time to do the things we truly love. The things that make us who we are and that give us light. This past year has shown us the importance of embracing that passion. We’ve had so much fun creating and expanding our little blog and sharing it with all of you.

But it hasn’t been without its obstacles. Maybe obstacles isn’t the right word. But we’ve definitely come across a few changes (wonderful changes) that slowed us down in the months right after we started and again this past winter. On June 21st we found out we were expecting. We had been trying to get pregnant for quite a few months so we were over the moon to discover we’d be welcoming our newest member into our family in February. We had so much fun sharing the news with our family.

Finding out we were pregnant was such welcomed news for us. We were beyond thrilled, but it did slow us down for a while. Needless to say, we were preoccupied with the anxieties and stress every first-time expectant parents face. I was so blessed to feel healthy and well during my entire pregnancy (albeit extremely exhausted for the first three months), that once we adjusted to all of the changes about to head our way we got back into the swing of creating and blogging.

In the past year, our little blog has blossomed into more than we could have imagined. We’ve become part of an amazing community of talented and inspiring people, many of whom we know call friends. Getting to meet all of these amazing individuals has definitely been the best part of starting our blog. I’m blown away by the inspiration and support we receive on a daily basis from those around us. It has motivated us and encouraged us to continue, even on those days (or weeks) we aren’t feeling very creative, or the laundry’s piling up and the dishes need to be done along with countless other household chores.

And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – thank you to all of our readers! I still can’t believe we have so many wonderful followers. We are humbled that anyone is interested in what we have to share and that you keep coming back to see what else we have to offer. It’s so special to know we are inspiring creativity in others (as that is what we set out to do). Thank you for sticking with us!

We have a lot of exciting opportunities and new ventures ahead of us this year and we can’t wait to share them with you. We look forward to continuing to share, learn and grow along the way.

So here’s to another year!

xoxo

Instagram post 2191854838659523503_1339909674 Did you catch the video of me in Nick's shop this week? Well, we partnered with our friends @kregjig to show you how to build a gift wrapping caddy just in time for the holidays.And guess what? I built it entirely on my own! It was my first time using power tools, but with Nick's guidance I was able to build this entire project from start to finish.Right now, @kregjig is offering $15 rebates on the K4, K4MS, K5 and K5MS from now until January 31st. If you've got a woodworker or a DIY'er in your life these would make a great gift.
