Neutral Fall Wreath

I thoroughly enjoy summer. I love the sunshine, the bright blue water of Georgian Bay, the long days and warm evenings. I even enjoy the muggy temperatures. But towards the end of August, I start to long for the crisp cool days of autumn.

Neutral Fall Wreath

This is reflected in our home. As summer slowly begins to fade and the transition into the coming season begins I gradually add subtle hints of fall into our house. I bring in fall bouquets with bunches of sunflowers, dahlias and snapdragons. I layer in cosy throws and downy pillows on our couches and beds. And I start planning hearty meals, like simmering pots of chilli, baked macaroni and cheese and creamy soups.

When decorating our home, I am often inspired by nature and the changing seasons. I let the colours outside guide me. It helps that our home is decorated in a neutral colour palette, so adding pops of colour and seasonal elements is easy. You can read all of my tips on decorating with neutrals here.

Neutral Fall Wreath

During the transition from summer to fall, before the rich colours of the harvest are in full bloom I am drawn to muted colours and natural elements. I love the soft greenery and the endless bunches of wildflowers during this time of the year. It was these feminine colours and dainty flowers that inspired me to create this early fall wreath.

Neutral Fall Wreath

It has a rustic and natural quality to it, lending itself well to the transition of seasons. It has been the perfect starting point for my fall decor this year.

Neutral Fall Wreath

Supplies:

  • Fall stems (I purchased mine from Michaels. They have a huge selection of autumn craft supplies, including these neutral fall stems that resemble lamb’s ear, thistle and dusty miller. I chose florals that were textured and in the same colour palette to keep the natural feel I was hoping for)
  • Grapevine wreath
  • Wire cutters
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions:

Begin by pulling (or cutting) the branches from the stems so that the leaves and flowers are no longer in one large bunch. I used only a few leaves from each stem to cover my wreath (I was able to save the rest of the stems for more fall decorating!).

Neutral Fall Wreath

Place the leaves and flowers around the wreath, alternating the variety to create a balanced appearance.

Once you are happy with the way your wreath looks secure each leaf in place with the hot glue (I like to tuck the ends of the leaves into the grapevines to help hide the glue and create a more natural look).

Neutral Fall Wreath

This beautiful neutral wreath is a wonderful way to add texture and warmth into your home and begin the transition from summer to autumn. I’d love to hear how you transition from summer into fall. Let me know in the comment section below.

It is from Ikea, however, I believe they have discontinued this grey wood stain. 🙁 It was my favourite!

Am I the only one that feels like our home is neve Am I the only one that feels like our home is never really finished, even after a big renovation? 🙋🏻‍♀️We shared our finished renovation a few months ago but we knew there would still be additions to make in the weeks and months ahead. I've added a few new pieces of decor and we installed a custom roman shade, but the biggest change we made was replacing our kitchen appliances. It's a big investment, but one that is worth it.We partnered with our friends at @frigidairecanada to update our existing appliances and today we are sharing all about it, from why we chose @frigidairecanada appliances again to the favourite features we're swooning over.
