Our 2015 Fall Home Tour

Tomorrow is the official start of fall, but we have been embracing our favourite season around here since the end of August.

Once summer begins to wrap up, I always find myself eager to welcome fall with open arms. I look forward to the indisputable beauty of the season – sunny days, brightly coloured trees and of course, crunchy leaves scattered along the ground.

Our 2015 Fall Home Tour

It’s during this time that I start to make subtle changes around our home, slowly incorporating more natural elements into our house. I tend to decorate with neutral colours (you can read my tips for decorating with neutrals here), especially during autumn. However, this year I went out of my comfort zone and tried something different. And it all started with this bright and cheerful tablescape I created.

I just fell in love with these bold and beautiful colours and I felt inspired to add pops of colour throughout our home this season.

We decorated our front porch last weekend, you can see it here.

Our kitchen is probably my favourite room in our home. It’s so bright and light, it’s just a happy place. I keep my favourite white vase beside our sink throughout the spring and summer so it’s always ready for fresh flowers from our backyard or our local farmer’s market. I decided to keep it around for a few more weeks, and filled it with a few of these bright and leafy branches from our backyard for a nice pop of colour.

I adore these simple glass canisters. They are perfect for storing bulk baking items, like flour or sugar, and they look so pretty displayed on the counter. They exude such farmhouse charm. I filled this canister with acorns for a subtle autumn touch.

I created a simple display using a mix of faux and real pumpkins on our vintage scale.

In the dining room I added a rustic wood mirror to our industrial shelf (you can get the tutorial for our DIY shelf here). I then layered in succulents planted in terra-cotta pots and bunches of bright fall flowers in vintage canning jars.

I draped a sweet black, white and grey tartan throw over our daughter’s highchair for some extra warmth.

I opted for a simple arrangement on our dining table this year, candles, sunflowers and mini orange pumpkins.

You’ll notice I kept everything very simple in our living room as well. I added a few new pillows to our couches and layered in a cozy knit throw. I love the crispness that the white pillows add and the throw is perfect for curling up with on those crisp cool evenings.

And of course, I had so much fun decorating our bookshelves. They are such a fun way to incorporate seasonal elements into our home. This year I added antique canning jars, natural driftwood, an oversized lantern, vintage novels, a galvanized letter G, a sparkly orange pumpkin and a sweet little owl.

I added this beautiful potted mum in a galvanized bucket and fall-scented candle to our coffee table. I wanted it to feel effortless and rustic.

I hope you enjoyed our fall tour this year and I am so glad you stopped by. We will be sharing so many fun fall projects and recipes in the coming weeks so we hope you’ll be back to see what we have been up to.

Thank you, it's so nice to hear you enjoy our home! My husband recently built the side table in our living room. We will be posting a tutorial on the blog soon so you can make your own. In the meantime, you can check out our tutorial on the DIY Industrial coffee table he also built (it's very similar). Just search industrial coffee table on our blog.
