DIY Fall Cotton Wreath

A few weeks ago I was pursuing all of the beautiful fall decor at Michaels when I spotted these faux cotton stems. I was immediately drawn to them and began thinking of different ways I could incorporate these into our home this fall.

Of course, I eventually decided on creating a simple DIY wreath. Wreaths are a wonderful way to add texture to your home, and they are fun because you can display them in so many more places than just your front door. I love hanging wreaths from our DIY chalkboard, our dining room hutch or even propped up on a shelf.

I am so drawn to the raw and natural beauty of cotton. And the rustic appeal fits perfectly with our home and the fall season that is upon us. I always tend to decorate using natural elements, especially during autumn when there are so many beautiful natural elements at our fingertips. It’s hard to resist bringing the natural beauty of the harvest season into our homes to enjoy.

So once I had decided on a DIY Cotton Wreath I headed back to Michaels to pick up my supplies. I purchased three cotton stems and a twig wreath.

I debated between a twig wreath and a grapevine wreath, but in the end, I purchased the twig wreath. I love how wispy and delicate it looks. You could create a denser wreath by using a grapevine wreath and adding many more cotton stems (I think I might make one myself!).

Supplies:

  • Twig wreath
  • Cotton stems (I used 3)
  • Wire cutters
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions:

Take apart the cotton stems using the wire cutters so that you can easily insert them into the twig wreath.

Next entwine the cotton stems into the wreath until you are happy with the final product. I used three deconstructed cotton stems, but you could use more depending on how full you want your wreath to appear.

Use the hot glue to permanently adhere the cotton stems to the wreath by applying a small amount of hot glue to the ends of the stems and holding in place until the glue dries.

That’s all there is to it. You have a beautiful and unique DIY Cotton Wreath to add a little touch of fall to your home.

So cute. I love how you styled it with the vintage windows as well. Happy Fall!
