Timeless Design

Neutral Fall Tablescape

A few weeks ago I created a fall inspired tablescape using seasonal flowers, vintage canning jars, mini pumpkins and the pièce de résistance, a gorgeous fall naked cake. It was bright, colourful and bold, and completely out of the norm for me. I tend to stick to a neutral colour palette while decorating, but every once and a while I crave a burst of colour.  And this table was just that.  This time, however, I wanted to create something for my neutral loving friends. I wanted to create something simple and a little bit rustic; a neutral fall tablescape.

Just like my Bright and Cheerful Fall Tablescape, I started with a linen coloured table runner down the center of our dining table. A table runner is a great way to anchor the space. I added a white faux pumpkin perched on a wood slice in the center of the table as a simple and rustic centerpiece. I love the texture and the natural feel of the wood slice. They make wonderful accessories to decorate with during the fall and winter, there are so many different ways to use them throughout your home.

From there I scattered white pillar candles in glass vases down the length of the table. Candles are a wonderful way to add ambiance and warmth to your home during the colder seasons. I always display my candles in glass vases. I love the sparkle of the flame reflecting in the clear glass, plus you never have to worry about spilled candle wax.

Next, I added four potted succulents. The simple white pots have a slightly modern feel to them, so they contrast nicely with the rustic elements like the wood slice and linen table runner. The assortment of succulents add a little pop of colour and dimension to the table. They are a little bit unexpected and fun, not your typical fall decor.

And finally I added a few faux mini white pumpkins.

I set the table with our wedding china. I’ve talked before about my love of white dishes and serving pieces. White tableware is classic and neutral, so it will never feel out of style. You can also mix and match as many pieces as you want and you know they will always work together. Our dishes aren’t plain white, they have a pretty silver rim around the outside. I think it’s such a dainty and feminine touch. I tucked grey linen napkins into silver napkin rings for a little extra sparkle. I thought they coordinated so nicely with our dishes.

Simple, elegant and rustic. I think it’s the perfect combination for a neutral fall tablescape. Let me know which fall table you liked better – our Bright and Cheerful Fall Tablescape or our Neutral Fall Tablescape.

Simply lovely my friend. Color is great every now and again – but yes – my heart speaks with the neutrals as well.

They are just so easy to work with, and they always make your space look pulled together and timeless…can't beat a neutral palette. xo
