Neutral Fall Tablescape with Pumpkins and Squash

Today is the day I have been looking forward to for weeks as a few of my very talented and creative friends are joining us to share their beautiful fall-inspired tablescapes. I was so eager to plan today’s post and have just loved seeing each beautiful and unique table setting in detail. I am in awe of these women. 🙂

When I think of autumn, time spent with family and friends comes to mind. I picture big family meals shared around the dining table or quiet evenings with friends sipping wine and sharing stories. It’s a time to be together and share in one another’s company.

And I just love creating the spaces for those moments to take place.

For as long as I can remember I have loved entertaining, and in particular, creating an inviting and warm space for our family and to welcome our guests. And creating that atmosphere in your home doesn’t have to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money. It can be as easy as a vase of fresh flowers or a simple favor for guests.

It’s these little touches that go along way in making your home feel welcoming and your guests feel at ease.

For me, I like to convey that feeling by setting a pretty table.

When I began planning what I wanted to create today, I envisioned a simple, yet beautiful floral centerpiece (kind of like this one), using seasonal flowers and greenery to make an impact. I love working with fresh flowers, but it can get expensive, and I didn’t want this tablescape to be costly or difficult. So I decided to step back.

I took a look around our home and thought about the items we already had on hand or pieces that were easy to find.

After weeks of searching, I finally had a couple of big white pumpkins sitting on our front porch (although I was hoping to find them before we shared our fall front porch), so I brought one inside and set it in the center of our table. It was perfect.

I flanked it with two of these beautiful brass lanterns filled with chunky candles and mixed in my favorite vintage brass candle holders to offset the size. I found these at various thrift stores and flea markets over the years and I just love the aged patina and little bit of sparkle they add.

A few days ago while running some errands I came across these beautiful blue-green squash at our grocery store and just fell in love with the color. I also picked up a few of these sweet little white ones. I think squash are so fun to decorate with during the fall, their organic shapes and unique colors always draw me in. And of course, I couldn’t pass up a bunch of these Baby Boo pumpkins, so they came home with me too. I scattered them along the center of the table to coordinate with our big white pumpkin centerpiece.

Finally, I intertwined a few leafy branches throughout it for a little bit of color and texture.

And that was all there was to it. 🙂 A simple tablescape with items we had on hand, found at the grocery store or in our own backyard. Those are always my favorite.

Now, be sure to stop by and visit each of these amazing tablescapes from our friends, I just know you’ll be inspired! We will be back in December full of Christmas cheer and ready to share our holiday tablescapes…I can’t wait!

So beautiful. I love how your pumpkin stem is a bit wonky. LOVE pumpkins with sweet character. The lanterns are such a pretty touch with the table and greenery. So pretty and inviting.

It is so lovely! Thanks for sharing! A little off the topic of table decor, but would love to know more about your wood floors! They look similar to what I’ve been looking for & couldn’t find info on the blog about them. But maybe I just didn’t search far enough 🙂

Hi Mary Ann, unfortunately, we don’t have any information on our hardwood floors, they were here when we moved in. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help! Thank you for visiting! 🙂

Thank you, Amy. The brass lanterns are from Canadian Tire’s Canvas line, but we purchased them last Christmas. I imagine they would have something similar again this season. 🙂
