The Best Toys and Accessories for Kids’ Spaces

As a kid, there’s nothing better than getting lost in the magical world of make-believe and Nick and I wanted to create a special place for our girls to do just that. We designed and built this adorable playhouse tucked away into a corner of our backyard, and the girls helped me fill it with the most playful and whimsical details.

I wanted to round up a few of the toys and accessories that have made our playhouse feel so fun and exciting so you can fill your little one’s space with pieces that not only look beautiful but will keep them entertained too.

Apron – Our girls love donning their own aprons and pretending to cook up a delicious meal in their playhouse. I love this option because you can even have it personalized with their name. So cute!

Table and Chairs – We purchased our table and chairs for the playhouse locally, but this set is a great price and has really good reviews. A table and chairs are a must for any playhouse, whether, serving a delicious play meal or crafting and creating, it will get a lot of use!

Rainbow Wall Hook – We used these hooks in our playhouse, but I love the whimsical look of this rainbow wall hook too!

Doll – Of course, our girls love to play house, and they always need an adorable doll to take care of. I love the handmade look of these beautiful ones.

Wood Dishes and Utensils – I try to stay away from plastic toys when I can, and these wood dishes and utensils look so sweet on display.

Wood Mixer – We have this mixer for the girls which comes with a few accessories, but I love the simple look of this one too!

Wicker Tea Set – I think this wicker tea set is just the most adorable toy I’ve seen in a long time. It would look so sweet in any playhouse or play kitchen.

Play Doughnuts – I love stocking the girls’ play kitchen with scrumptious-looking play food, and because I prefer to stay away from plastic toys I love the felt food that is available now. Ikea and Etsy both have some great options!

Toy Kitchen – Of course, a playhouse isn’t complete without a play kitchen. Nick built the kitchen in our playhouse, but this one looks very similar. You can also see more of my favourites here, there is a really sweet one with a gingham sink skirt I can’t get over!

Vintage Girls Art Print – I love adding playful art to kids’ spaces and the playhouse was no exception. This vintage print of young girls in a park is so sweet and the colours are beautiful!

Vintage Landscape Art Print – As soon as I saw this print I knew it would be perfect in the playhouse, it just feels so magical!

So while our playhouse is tiny, we were able to create a magical escape full of playful toys and sweet decor which has provided hours of fun for our girls and their friends!
