The Best of April 2024

April has been a breath of fresh air as we’ve finally been able to enjoy the spring weather we’ve been waiting for all winter. With longer days and warmer temperatures, we’ve been embracing the beauty of spring by spending more time outdoors. This month, we took advantage of the clear skies by exploring our favourite parks and taking long walks with the girls. It’s been wonderful to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine once again.

Highlights of the Month

We also made several trips to our local thrift stores, where we found some amazing vintage treasures. Among our finds was a charming banker’s lamp that adds warmth and character to our kitchen, and a rare set of three antique brass lady bells. After a bit of quick research, I discovered the bells were traditionally used by well-to-do families, with the mistress of the house using them to summon their servants. It’s always fun to uncover these little pieces of history and learn more about the unique items we find. If you love the thrill of thrifting too, follow us on Instagram to join in on our weekly thrift store trips!

Speaking of our latest finds, did you see the beautiful snowball florals I added to our living room? Not only are they so realistic they’ll make you do a double-take, but they are also incredibly affordable.

This month we also shared three creative ways to display family photos in your home, number three just might be my favourite. There’s something so captivating about looking through photographs of our parents and grandparents in their youth, I find it so fascinating to see the fashions, peek into their homes and catch a glimpse of their lives from years ago.

The highlight of the month was our first trip to the cottage since closing it up for the season last October. Nick braved the chilly water to install the seasonal water system, so our cozy cottage is officially ready for another summer of fun!

April Favourites

Now, here’s a look at what caught my eye this month! I’ve rounded up some of my favourite pieces that will add a touch of charm to your home this spring.

1. Sconce: This handcrafted sconce is truly a standout piece! The milk glass shade and oiled brass hardware are a dream team, it’s a must-have for adding a touch of charm to any space.

2. Block Print Tablecloth: Add whimsy to your table with this marigold block print tablecloth. Its charming pattern is perfect for any meal, whether it’s a laid-back lunch or a special dinner.

3. Linen Napkins: How sweet are these linen napkins? The embroidered border adds a delicate touch while keeping the look simple enough to complement a bold-patterned tablecloth.

4. Wicker Lamp: This petite wicker lamp is as cute as it gets! The charming basket weave design will bring texture and warmth to any corner of your home. It’s the kind of piece that just makes you smile every time you see it.

5. Napkin Rings: These jute napkin rings add a breezy, summery touch to your table and effortlessly elevate your everyday dining experience.

6. Cake Stand: Prepare to impress with this stunning cake stand! Whether you’re showcasing your latest baking creation or using it as a decorative piece, it’s a true conversation starter. Everyone will be asking where you got it!

7. Floral Pillow: This pillow cover is just gorgeous! The dark green background and bold floral print create an eye-catching statement that adds instant character to any room.

8. Gingham Curtains: Gingham never goes out of style! These honey-coloured curtains are a delightful addition to any room, especially a child’s space or playroom. If yellow isn’t your thing, there’s a beautiful teal option available too.

9. Hand-Painted Bowls: These bowls are a work of art! With their stunning floral patterns hand-painted on glazed stoneware, they bring a touch of beauty to your table.

10. Terracotta Pot: Classic, earthy, and a must-have! This terracotta pot and saucer set is perfect for adding natural charm to your patio this season.

What’s Next

As we look ahead to May, we’re excited about our upcoming projects and celebrations! We’re preparing a special Mother’s Day gift guide and cocktail recipe that will make the day even more memorable. We will also build new counter stools for our kitchen and begin our laundry room renovation. It’s going to be a busy month! Let us know how your month has been and what you have planned for next month in the comments!
