Yesterday, as I was putting away laundry in our bedroom I took some time to admire the amazing view we have from our home’s second floor. The treetops were awash in a sea of gold, orange and red and the sun was dancing across the deep blue water of the bay making it glint and sparkle…
Woven Wood Shades in our Living Room
This post was generously sponsored by Blindsgalore. See our full disclosure policy here. I’ve always been a very detail-oriented person…details matter to me and I always sweat the little things. Depending on how you look at it, it can be considered a hindrance or an advantage. I like to think of it as an advantage….
DIY Farmhouse Dining Table Plans
Let’s talk about dining tables for a minute…
The dining table is the main focus of any dining room. It’s the gathering place when family and friends come over and where memories are created and stories are told over great food and drink. It’s a place for the family to gather every night for dinner and share the day’s triumphs and tribulations – no matter how big or small. It’s a place to convene on rainy days to play board games and let creativity shine with craft projects. And it’s a quiet place to…
How to Hang a Layered Gallery Wall
We have been so completely overwhelmed by the sweet and thoughtful comments so many of you have shared with us since revealing the updates we made to our living room a few weeks ago. But by far the most interest has been directed at our new gallery wall.
We’ve received so many questions about both the art we used and how we hung the prints that I wanted to share with all of you just how we did it.
Our living room makeover began simply because we decided it was time for a few adjustments to our main living space, I won’t get into it again, but you can read all about it here if you want to catch up. Creating a better flow from room to room was a must and so we decided the best place for our new sofa was against the only…
Simple Modern Farmhouse Dining Room Updates
Since moving into our home four years ago, we have been pouring our heart and soul into creating a home that is both beautiful and inviting, as well as functional and practical for our growing family. It has been a slow process and involved much trial and error, but we are getting there.
Just last evening I experienced a moment that made it clear all of our hard work is paying off. We were enjoying a quiet evening at home after a busy weekend with family and I sat in our living room with my baby cuddled contently in my lap listening to my husband…
Easy Fall Centerpiece
Fall brings with it cozy and comforting thoughts of spending chilly days in the warmth of our homes surrounded by those we love. It’s one of the reasons I love this season so much.
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we anticipate time spent with family and friends. Whether we spend it celebrating at cheerful and lively gatherings or reminiscing during quiet evenings at home, it’s a time to be thankful for the special people in…
Pumpkin Loaf
As the subtle signs of fall begin to emerge I am always anxious to embrace my favorite season wholeheartedly. I love absolutely everything about autumn, from the beautiful rich colors of the changing leaves, to bundling up in cozy sweaters and boots and enjoying pumpkin flavored everything!
That’s why this Pumpkin Loaf recipe is one of my all-time…
Simple Fall Tablescape
While the days of late afternoon picnics and beachside barbeques are over, time spent celebrating and enjoying hearty meals with family and friends is only just beginning.
As the fall weather approaches and we anticipate the arrival of Thanksgiving and Christmas, we turn to the comfort and warmth of our homes to create welcoming havens from the cold, wet weather outside. Time is most often spent around the dining room table enjoying the comfort foods of the season. It’s funny how…

Why We Chose a White Slipcovered Sofa
Today I want to talk a little bit about our new Joss and Main living room furniture and why we chose a white slipcovered sofa and chair even though we have a toddler and three pets.
Let me take you back to the beginning….
Four years ago we moved into our current house, and it was a whirlwind. Nick and I are DIY’ers at heart, so when it came time to sell our homes we decided to do it on our own, we listed and sold both of our houses…
Pumpkin Patch Fall Printable
As I began thinking of the fall printable I wanted to create for you this year my thoughts turned to our little garden and the sweet, round pumpkins we grew. Gardening has been such a rewarding experience and we have had the best time harvesting our own vegetables throughout the summer and into the early fall.
So it was with the four plump pumpkins we picked from…
Fall Living Room Tour
We have been slow to let go of summer this year. Maybe it is because we have experienced the sweet and lazy days of summer as a child again, through the eyes of our little one. At one and a half, she is fully understanding the pure joy of feeling the warm summer sun on her skin, splashing in the waves at the beach and evenings spent picking fresh veggies from her garden as the sun goes down.
As much as I am relishing these last warm days before the air turns crisp and cool, I also can’t wait to experience another fall season with our little one – jumping in piles of leaves, sipping warm apple cider and…
